2015 Drive, Chip and Putt
The United States Golf Association, in partnership with the Masters Tournament and the PGA of America, is pleased to announce the second year of the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship, a free, nationwide youth skills competition for boys and girls ages 7-15. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to watch 88 junior golfers participate at the inaugural national Drive, Chip and Putt Championship final at Augusta National Golf Club. We are very encouraged by the event’s success in its first year and the potential to attract even greater interest in the game among young people in the future.
This year, we are excited to announce that local qualifying will be conducted in all 50 states. Junior golfers will advance through 256 local, 50 sub-regional and 10 regional qualifiers, all competing for a berth in the finals at Augusta National Golf Club on April 5, 2015. We believe this is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the state and regional associations’ next generation of golfers, and encourage you to share the news of this event with your juniors. The breakdown and schedule of Drive, Chip and Putt Championship qualifying is as follows:
Local (May/June/July): More than 50,000 total participants; 256 host sites
3 juniors advance in each age/gender category from every venue
Sub-Regional (August): More than 6,000 total participants; 50 host sites
2 juniors advance in each age/gender category from every venue
Regional (September): 800 total participants; 10 host sites
1 junior advances in each age/gender category from every venue
National Finals (April 5, 2015): 80 total participants at Augusta National Golf Club
