POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (Aug. 11, 2024) – The 2024 Four Ball Championship at Westwood Hills Country Club concluded in dramatic fashion, with Aaron Clark (Rogersville) & Tyler Stalker (Springfield) emerging as the champions after an exciting playoff.
Clark & Stalker, who were tied for first place with James Vernon (Poplar Bluff) & Nathan Woolard (Poplar Bluff), Corey Choate (Eureka) & Jason White (St. Charles), and Carsen Silliman (Jackson) & Ian Lambert (Jackson) at the end of the final round, each with a gross score of 17-under-par, 125, had to overcome a dramatic finish to claim their victory.
After a birdie on the 17th hole, Clark & Stalker needed a birdie on the 18th to win, but a missed putt by Stalker sent the tournament into extra holes.
In the playoff, all four teams birdied the first playoff hole, but Clark & Stalker secured the win by sinking a birdie putt on the second playoff hole, while the other teams made par.
During the final round, Clark & Stalker made nine birdies, Vernon & Woolard had 11 birdies, Choate & White also had nine birdies, and Silliman & Lambert delivered a strong performance with four birdies and two eagles, including an eagle on hole 18 that put them in contention.
In the Net Flight, Matt Besserman (Maryland Heights) & Keith Quigley (Manchester) secured their win with a gross two-day score of 15-under-par, 127. Despite a challenging final round where they shot 5 under par with five birdies, their strong first-round performance ensured their victory.
Kurt Mueller (Jefferson City) & Dan Luebbert (Holts Summit) finished in second place with a gross score of 13-under, 129. Their impressive final round, which included two eagles and four birdies, propelled them from sixth place to second.
Tom McHenry (Jefferson City) & John McCulloch (Jefferson City) took third place with a score of 12-under, 130, after a round of 4-under-par that featured seven birdies.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (Aug. 10, 2024) – The first round of the 36th annual Four Ball Championship at Westwood Hills Country Club has set the stage for an exciting finish. With tee times starting at 8 a.m., 51 teams took to the Par 71 course measuring 6,279 yards to vie for the title of Four Ball Champion.
In the Championship Division, Wayne Fredrick (Springfield) & Tyler Thompson (Springfield) and Tyler Stalker (Springfield) & Aaron Clark (Rogersville) are tied for the lead at an impressive 10-under-par, 61. Fredrick & Thompson’s round featured eight birdies and an eagle on the 14th hole, while Stalker & Clark matched their performance with eight birdies and a strong finish, including an eagle on the 18th hole.
Brad Carpenter (Washington) & Kory Franks (Lake Ozark), Drew Hatten (Leawood) & Patrick Britt (St. Louis), and Carsen Silliman (Jackson) & Ian Lambert (Jackson) are tied for third place at 9-under, 62. All three teams had seven birdies and an eagle in their rounds. Notably, only three teams in the Championship flight ended the day with scores above par.
In the Net Division, Keith Quigley (Manchester) & Matt Besserman (Maryland Heights) lead with a score of 10-under, 61. Tom McHenry (Jefferson City) & John McCulloh (Jefferson City) are in second place at 8-under, 63. Gunnar See (Jefferson City) & Doug Smith (Jefferson City) and Arnold Bailey (Linn) & Randy Kay (Jefferson City) are tied for third place at 7-under, 64.
The final round of best ball will determine the champions, with tee times resuming at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Awards will be presented following the conclusion of the rounds.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club.
