SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. (July 30, 2024) — The final round of the 18th Annual Parent Child Championship concluded today at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo. After two days of intense competition, winners have emerged in each division, showcasing strong performances across the board.

In the Championship 6-6-6 Division, Steve and Alexander Maurer (St. Louis) secured first place with a total gross score of 10-under, 134. They maintained their lead from round one with six birdies in the second round. Darin and Brooks Baldwin (Warrensburg) finished second at 6-under, 138. Bob and Robert Meeh (Eureka, St. Louis), along with Nick and Rick Barks (St. Peters), tied for third place at 2-under, 142.

The Watson Flight saw Drew Higgins and Sam Verslues (Jefferson City) clinch victory with a score of 18-under, 126. Their impressive second round, which included eight birdies and two eagles, propelled them to first place. Lily and Anthony Frazier (Ashland, Columbia) placed second with a score of 17-under, 127, while Matt and Keith Kelley (Raymore, DeSoto) secured third place with a score of 16-under, 128.

In the Nicklaus Flight, Alex and Chip Gentry (Jefferson City) emerged victorious with a score of 19-under, 125, thanks to six birdies and two eagles in their second round. Michael and Mike Snyder (Jefferson City) placed second with a score of 18-under, 126, and Steven and Jackson McRoberts (Nixa) took third place with a score of 15-under, 129.

Reese and Andy Ruprecht (Branson) claimed first place in the Lanning Flight with a gross score of 13-under, 131, recording eight birdies during their second round to move into the lead. Ted and Steve Wisniewski (St. Louis), along with Ryan and Rory Helfrich (Washington), tied for second with a score of 10-under, 134.

In the Fricke Flight, Jack and Patrick Britt (St. Louis) dominated with a score of 21-under, 123, bolstered by 12 birdies in their second round. Kyle and Greyson McMinn (Jackson) earned second place with a score of 6-under, 138, while Jarod and Julian Meyer (Branson) took third with a score of 5-under, 139.

The Century Division saw a tie for first place between Austen and Doug Banks (Fenton, Eureka) and Daniel and Barry Yehling (St. Louis), both finishing at 12-under, 132. The Yehling team won the scorecard playoff to claim the gold medals and the division title, with five birdies today. Dru and Bob Linebach (Kansas City) secured third place at 11-under, 133.

In the Senior Series Division, Kris and Jim Casburn (Blue Hills, Greenwood) triumphed with a score of 14-under, 130, thanks to seven birdies and one eagle in their second round. Del and JD Hedrick (Blue Springs, Raytown), along with Derek and Randy Ralhmann (Poplar Bluff), tied for second at 11-under, 133.

SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. (July 29, 2024) — The first round of the 18th Annual Parent Child Championship took place today at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach. Competition remains tough across all divisions as teams vie for the top spot in this celebrated event.

All divisions, except for the Championship bracket, played a scramble format. Leading the Super Senior Division (one player over 70) are Derek & Randy Rahlmann (Poplar Bluff), who posted an impressive 8-under par, 64, securing a three-stroke lead with eight birdies today.

In the Century Division (combined ages of 100), Doug & Austen Banks (Fenton, Eureka) head the leaderboard at 9-under par, 63, featuring six birdies and two eagles. 

The Fricke Flight sees Patrick & Jack Britt (St. Louis) out in front at 9-under par, 63, with a remarkable ten birdies today.

The Lanning Flight is tied at 8-under par, 64, between Gunnar See & Jay Higgins (Jefferson City) and Ryan & Rory Helfrich (Washington). The team of See & Higgins recorded six birdies and two eagles, while the Helfrich team notched nine birdies.

In the Nicklaus Flight, Michael & Mike Snyder, along with Alex & Chip Gentry, all from Jefferson City, are tied for the lead at 10-under par, 62. The Snyder team made ten birdies and one eagle, and the Gentry team had eight birdies and one eagle.

Leading the Watson Flight are Anthony & Lily Frazier (Ashland, Columbia) with a score of 10-under par, 62, highlighted by eight birdies and one eagle.

In the 6-6-6 Championship Flight (Scramble, Alternate Shot, Best Ball), Steve & Alexander Maurer (St. Louis) hold the lead at 7-under par, 65 (19, 26, 20), with seven birdies and one eagle today.

Round two will commence tomorrow morning, with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. There will be both morning and afternoon flights, with golfers teeing off on holes one and ten.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship.
