JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Golf Association is excited to announce that Ella Fixsen has been named Director of Marketing, Media & Communications! Fixsen was the MGA Communications Intern last summer, and we are happy to welcome her on to our full-time staff. 

“Excited to announce Ella’s appointment as our new Communications Director at MGA! Her outstanding performance as our Communications Intern last summer speaks volumes,” said MGA Executive Director Scott Hovis. “I’m eager to witness her ongoing efforts in keeping our members informed about all the exciting happenings at the Missouri Golf Association.”

In this position, Fixsen will create, manage and develop delivery of our media, marketing and communications channels to help promote and support the mission of the organization. This includes building a social media plan and writing and sending out press releases to members and the media. She will also attend several MGA events during tournament season to capture content for the MGA website and social media pages. 

“I am extremely appreciative of the opportunity to continue working with the Missouri Golf Association,” Fixsen said. “Last summer, I had an amazing time building relationships with other MGA staff members and learning more about the game of golf. I look forward to exploring how to grow our organization’s communication efforts and social media presence.”

Fixsen is currently studying Strategic Communication at the University of Missouri and pursuing minors in Spanish and Business. As a student at Mizzou, she is also a creative video intern for Mizzou Athletics and part of the Association for Women in Sports Media on campus.

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
