JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Jan. 30, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association is excited to announce it will host several new two-day junior events in the 2024 season. These events will be open to high school students ages 14 to 18.
Each event will consist of two rounds of stroke play. The player with the lowest gross score will be the champion and will receive a medal following the conclusion of play.
“I am excited to announce the addition of our new 36-hole junior events,” MGA Junior Golf Director Reese Hamilton said. “Over the last few years, we have been dedicated to growing junior golf in Missouri and this is a tremendous addition for young golfers.”
These events are tailored to high school students looking to further their golf careers.
“These events will allow our juniors to compete at the championship level in front of college coaches in their home state, while also contributing to their Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking,” Hamilton said.
As of now, there are five two-day events on the 2024 schedule, with more boys’ events to be added soon:
- Girls’ Spring Kickoff – March 23-24, Twin Hills Golf & Country Club, Joplin
- Girls’ Shootout – April 20-21, Jefferson City Country Club, Jefferson City
- Kansas City Classic – June 5-6, Paradise Pointe Golf Complex, Smithville
- Arris’ Pizza Summer Showcase – June 26-27, Rivercut Golf Course, Springfield
- Imperial Junior Classic – July 23-24, Redfield Golf Course, Eugene
MGA points will be awarded at each event, which will contribute to Junior Player of the Year, Girls Four State and the Southern Junior Cup Matches. You can view the full point allocation table HERE.
Registration for all MGA events will open on March 5, 2024 at 9 a.m. Players do not have to be a member of the MGA to compete. If a player is under 14 and still wishes to compete, they can fill out a play up request form HERE.
