JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Nov. 22, 2023) – The Missouri Golf Association will host the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship and Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship concurrently in the 2024 season. These events will take place at Sunset Country Club in St. Louis from Aug. 28-29, 2024.
The Mid-Amateur will be open to female MGA members aged 25 or older, and the Senior Amateur will be open to female MGA members aged 50 or older.
“The MGA is excited to announce that our Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and Senior Amateur Championship will be held at Sunset Country Club this year,” MGA Director of Competitions Michelle Parrish said. “Sunset Country Club is one of the best venues in the STL area and we can’t wait to crown our champions there in August.”
Players who are eligible for both tournaments will be able to compete in them simultaneously.
“After careful consideration, we believe combining these events will be great for our female golfers throughout the state!” said Parrish.
Women aged 50 or older will have the option to enter both the Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur. Women aged 25 and older, but younger than 50, are only eligible for the Mid-Amateur.
Within each championship, there will be a Championship Division and Open Division. In the coming weeks, the MGA will send out more information about each division and recommendations based on player handicaps. The Championship Divisions will be playing approximately 5,400-5,500 yards and the Open Divisions will play approximately 4,800 yards.
The players will have a practice round on Aug. 27 where they can prepare for both events. The first round will take place on Aug. 28 and the second round on Aug. 29. After the final round has concluded, the MGA will award both champions.
Registration for both the Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur Championships will open on March 5, 2024.
