SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Sept. 19, 2023) – The 31st annual Women’s Senior Amateur Championship will be held at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield from Sept. 20-21. The field will consist of 38 senior female golfers aged 50 or older.

Players will be divided into age divisions and will each play two rounds of stroke play. All players will compete for the title of MGA Women’s Senior Amateur Champion, and players 65 or older will also compete for the title of MGA Women’s Super Senior Amateur Champion.

The tournament will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 19 with a practice round and a welcome reception in the evening. 

Play will commence the next day with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. After the round is over on Wednesday, the players will enjoy a cocktail hour and formal dinner.

Thursday, Sept. 21 will consist of the second round of stroke play, also beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, and an awards banquet luncheon to follow. 

Last year, the championship was held at Columbia Country Club and Kathy Glennon took home her second championship title. She will be competing at this year’s championship alongside other past champions Tina Jones and Stephany Powell.

ABOUT MGA:

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club.
