MAYETTA, Kan. (Sept. 19, 2023) – Team Missouri tied for second place at the 12th annual Director’s Cup! This is a biennial tournament held amongst teams from Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas, and it is being held at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas this year.
Nebraska was this year’s champion, earning 21 points over three rounds. Missouri and Kansas tied for second place, both finishing with 17.5 points. And Iowa took fourth with 16 points.
Team Missouri entered today’s final round of single matches with 10.5 points from day one. This event uses Nassau scoring, with one point awarded for the front nine, back nine and total in each match.
Missouri earned a total of 7 points in this round. Ryan Sullivan won the front nine in his match against Danny Woodhead from Nebraska for 1 point. Hunter Parrish played Alex Farrell from Nebraska and won the front nine and tied the match for 1.5 points. Chad Niezing tied on the front nine and won both the back nine and the match against Iowa’s Jon Olson, earning 2.5 points. Brad Nurski faced Park Ulrich of Kansas, winning the back nine and tying the match for 1.5 points. And finally, Ryan Eckelkamp tied his opponent Ben Pearson from Kansas on the back nine for half a point.
Good job to Team Missouri on a great showing, and congratulations to Team Nebraska!
The next Director’s Cup will take place in 2025.

Day 1 Recap
MAYETTA, Kan. (Sept. 18, 2023) — Team Missouri is currently sitting in first place after rounds one and two at the 12th annual Director’s Cup. The Director’s Cup is a biennial tournament among teams from Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. This year, the Cup is being held at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas.
Missouri currently has 10.5 points, Kansas is in second with 10 points, Nebraska is in third at 8.5 points and Iowa is sitting in fourth with 7 points.
Today, there were four ball matches in the morning and foursome matches in the afternoon. This event uses Nassau scoring, with one point awarded for the front nine, back nine and total in each match.
In the first round of four ball matches, Missouri earned 5 points. Brad Nurski and Chad Niezing won the back nine and tied overall in their match against Nebraska, earning 1.5 points. Ryan Sullivan and Ryan Eckelkamp tied the first nine and won both the back nine and the match, getting 2.5 points total versus Iowa. Finally, Kory Bowman and Hunter Parrish won the back nine in their match against Kansas for 1 point.
In the foursome matches, Missouri came away with 5.5 points. Niezing and Sullivan played Kansas, tying on the front nine, and winning the back nine and the match for 2.5 points. Eckelkamp and Bowman had the same result against Nebraska, tying on the front nine and winning the back nine and match for 2.5 points. And Parrish and Nurski tied the front nine with Iowa for half a point.

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship.
