Final Recap

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The 2023 Jefferson City Country Club Four Ball Championship concluded today after a second round of 18 holes of best ball. 8 a.m. tee times kicked off the morning, and by the end of the day, each division had its winning team.

Doug Albers (Leawood) and Zach Vandolah (Kansas City) held their lead from the first round and won the Open division with an impressive score of 12 under, 132 (66, 66). The team of Corey Choate (Eureka) and Jason White (St. Charles) also maintained their place from the first round and finished in second place at seven under, 137 (67, 70). Finally, Ryne Fisher (Overland Park) and Chuck Moore (Leawood) climbed the leaderboard today after their ninth place standing yesterday, finishing in third with a score of five under, 139 (70, 69).

Bobby Godwin (Poplar Bluff) and Tom Barry (St. Louis) had two solid and consistent rounds and won the Senior division with a score of eight under, 136 (68, 68). Chuck Admire (Kansas City) and Harry Roberts (St. Joseph) finished in second place after a strong second round at six under, 138 (71, 67). And the team of Kevin Rome (Kansas City) and Scott Mason (Shawnee) followed right behind in third at five under, 139 (69, 70).

Lastly, in the Super Senior division, Robert Trittler (Wentzville) and Bob Meeh (Eureka) saw a dominating win after shooting two under, 142 (72, 70). Ron Eilers (Columbia) and Don Kuehn (Kansas City) took second place with a score of three over, 147 (70, 77), and Patrick Warren (Kansas City) and Dave Hornaday (Kansas City) rounded out the podium in third place at five over, 149 (72, 77).

Day 1 Recap

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The annual Jefferson City Country Club Four Ball Championship kicked off today, April 29, 2023, with 8 a.m. tee times. This highly anticipated event was full within five hours of registration opening, and a full field of 160 golfers traveled to Jefferson City to compete.

The first round of 18 holes of best ball concluded today, and the front runners in each division emerged.

The Open division is seeing very close competition, with the team of Doug Albers (Leawood) and Zach Vandolah (Kansas City) currently on top at six under, 66. Corey Choate (Eureka) and Jason White (St. Charles) are following closely behind with a score of five under, 67, and Josh Roller (Springfield) and Derek Reynolds (Springfield) are in third at four under, 68.

Matt Murray (Overland Park) and David Rismiller (Kansas City) are leading the Senior division with a score of five under, 67. The teams of Wayne Fredrick (Springfield) & Antonio Serrano (Springfield) and Bobby Godwin (Poplar Bluff) & Tom Barry (St. Louis) are tied for second at four under, 68. Several teams are following close behind.

Finally, the team of Ron Eilers (Columbia) and Don Kuehn (Kansas City) is on top of the Super Senior division with a score of two under, 70. Patrick Warren (Kansas City) & Dave Hornaday (Kansas City) and Robert Trittler (Wentzville) & Bob Meeh (Eureka) are tied for second after shooting par for the day.

Day two is sure to see close competition! Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow, April 30.

ABOUT MGA:

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director.
