ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Faith Belmear is the 84th Missouri Women’s Amateur Champion at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis!
Belmear, who plays collegiately for Missouri State, shot an impressive four under par, 67, during the final round of stroke play, sinking six birdies, bringing her total score to six under par, 207.
Our champion was closely followed by Siena Minor (Columbia). Shooting three under, 68, in the final round of stroke play, Minor is our runner-up for the Missouri Women’s Amateur Championship. Over the course of the three rounds, she shot three under par, 210.
Kayla Pfitzner (Ozark) shot an even par, 213, to bring home third place in the Amateur flight.
Nine-time Missouri Women’s Amateur champion Ellen Port (St. Louis) is our Mid-Amateur champion for the first time. Port shot one over, 70 in today’s final round to win by two strokes. Over the course of the three rounds, Port shot seven over par, 220. Port has been successful in nearly every avenue of women’s golf, but this is her first time as champion of the Mid-Amateur.
Emily Dannegger (St. Louis) is in second place behind Port. Dannegger shot two under par, 69, in the final round and found herself at nine over par, for a total gross of 222.
In third place, Kallie Harrison (St. Louis) shot 13 over par, 226, to round out the podium for the Missouri Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
Taking home first place in the Amateur Open Division is Alicia Anderson (Chesterfield). Just two strokes behind her, placing second is Diane Schneiderjans (Florissant). Peggy Carter (Florissant) and Mary Ackerman (Florissant) tied for third place.
Nancy Walther (St. Louis) won the A Flight Mid-Amateur Open Division. Heather Brinkman (Glendale) was two strokes behind her in second place, and Patty Robinson (Poplar Bluff) took home third.
In the B Flight Mid-Amatuer Open Division, Peggy Carter shot the low score to take first place. Kay Tice (O’Fallon) was right behind her in second, and Marge Behrens (Troy) placed third.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Siena Minor (Columbia) and Faith Belmear (Springfield) lead the Amateur players after the second round of the 84th Missouri Women’s Amateur Championships at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis.
Minor shot an even par, 71, on Tuesday, sinking four birdies during the round, bringing her total score to 140. Belmear competes for Missouri State University in Springfield. She shot three under par in round two. She sunk four birdies and an eagle to tie her for first with a total gross score of 140.
They are closely followed by Kayla Pfitzner (Ozark) who plays collegiately at Missouri State. Pfitzner hit one birdie to shoot one over par, 72, to bring her score to 143.
In the Mid-Amateur Championship, nine-time Missouri Women’s Amateur champion Ellen Port (St. Louis) leads at 148. She shot four over par today, 75. Port is tied for sixth in the Amateur rankings.
Kallie Harrison (St. Louis) is in second place behind Port. Harrison shot four over par, 75, in round two and sits at nine over par, for a total gross of 151.
Leading the Amateur Open Division is Alicia Anderson (Chesterfield). Anderson shot 31 over par, 102, to lead the flight. Anderson’s total gross score is 196. Diane Schneiderjans (Florissant) is right behind her at 198 total gross score.
In the Mid-Amateur Open Division, Nancy Walther took the lead with a round two score of 84, 13 over par. She leads with a 173 total gross score. Heather Brinkman (Glendale) is in second with a total gross of 177.
All golfers will play in round three of stroke play tomorrow at Norwood Hills. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. and go until 11:00 a.m. All golfers will tee off on hole one.

Minor, a high school junior, shot a two under, 69, including sinking four birdies and an eagle during the round. She’s followed by Kayla Pfitzner (Ozark) who plays collegiately at Missouri State. Pfitzner fired off four birdies en route to an even par card.
In the Mid-Amateur Championship, nine-time Missouri Women’s Amateur champion Ellen Port (St. Louis) leads at two over, 73 — she also sits at fourth in the Amateur rankings.
Port is a 7-time USGA Championship winner. She is tied for third all-time in the category, sitting behind the likes of Bobby Jones, Tiger Woods, JoAnne Gunderson and Jack Nicholas.
Leading the Amateur Open Division is Alicia Anderson (Chesterfield). Anderson shot 23 over par, 94, to lead the flight. On her tail, shooting 24 over par, 95, is Diane Schneiderjans (Florissant).
In the Mid-Amateur Open Division, Heather Brinkman (Glendale) leads at 16 over par, 87. She is closely followed by Nancy Walther (St. Louis), who shot 18 over par, 89.

The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
