Team Missouri finished second in the 2019 Southern Junior Cup hosted by the Alabama Golf Association at Willow Point Country Club in Alexander City, Alabama.
The Southern Junior Cup is a Ryder-Cup style tournament consisting of four ball, foursome, and singles matches between juniors from Alabama, Mississippi, and Missouri.
Each state brings a team consisting of 6 male and 6 female players that meet the criteria established by each state association. The format of the tournament is a four-ball match played the first round, the afternoon round is an alternate shot match play and the third round is singles match play. In four ball matches and alternate shot matches, the teams will consist of one (1) male and one (1) female on each team. One point was awarded to the winning state for each match. Ties result in a half point being awarded to both states.
Missouri was tied for the lead with Alabama after Tuesday morning’s Four-Ball matches, with each team scoring 4 points. Mississippi trailed with 1 point. In the afternoon Foursome matches, Alabama gained the lead, picking up 11.5 points. Missouri claimed 4 points and Mississippi gained 2.5. Alabama ran away with the event in Wednesday’s Singles matches, scoring 21 of 24 possible points. Missouri claimed 5.5 points and Mississippi scored 9.5 points.
Alabama won the Southern Junior Cup for the fourth straight year with a total of 36.5 points. Missouri and Mississippi were in a close race for second. Missouri ultimately claimed second place with 13.5 points, narrowly beating Mississippi who finished with a total of 13 points.
Congratulations to Team Alabama. The Missouri Golf Association would like to thank the Alabama Golf Association and Willow Point Country Club for hosting a great event. The 2020 Southern Junior Cup will be hosted by the Arkansas State Golf Association.
The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. The MGA conducts several statewide championships each year. The MGA distributes an annual schedule of tournament events and entry forms for each event, provides advice and information for golf, handicap and rules chairpersons, and provides educational seminars.

The individual matches will be played male against male and female against female. One point will be awarded to the winning state for each match. Ties will result in a half point being awarded to both states.
Players will attend a pairings party on Monday evening to determine their matches and tee times. Fourball and alternate shot matches will be played on Tuesday, with singles matches played on Wednesday.

Greta Hinds
Graduation Year: 2021
High School: Helias Catholic High School
Greta will be a junior at Helias Catholic in the fall. She has earned all district honors and is a state qualifier. She is the 2019 Missouri Junior Tour season points champion for the girls 16-18 division. She was also chosen to be a part of Team Missouri in the 2019 Junior Girls Four State Championships in Nebraska City.
This is Greta’s first time playing in the Southern States Junior Cup Matches
Mia Rallo
Graduation Year: 2022
High School: St. Joseph’s Academy
During her freshmen year of high school, Mia has taken 1st place in the District tournament, placed 11th in the State Championship, and assisted her team on winning their 3rd State Championship in a row. She also gained All-Conference and second team All-State. Mia has also won her division in the MGA Junior Championship, including, finishing second in the overall girls division. Just recently, Mia has played in the Prairie Invitational at the National Golf Club in Kansas City. In the Open division, she finished 32nd in a field of 85. Then finished 4th in the low junior division as well. This will be Mia’s first year participating in the Southern States Junior Cup Matches.
Kaydi Rhodes
Graduation Year: 2022
High School: Jackson High School
Kaydi will be a sophomore at Jackson High School where she will be playing her second season with the Lady Indian golf team. During her Freshman season, Kaydi was part of school history by leading her team to their first win in the history of the girls golf program. Kaydi was a semi-finalist at the 2019 Missouri Junior Match Play, 6th place in the 2019 Missouri Junior Amateur and on the 2019 Junior Girls Four State team. This will be Kaydi’s first year participating in the Southern States Junior Cup Matches.
Alex Gentry
Graduation year: 2020
High School: Helias Catholic
Alex has been a state qualifier 2 out of his 3 years. He placed 3rd his sophomore year and junior year he took 12. He was the MO Big I champion in 2018. He took 10th in the 2018 MO Jr. Am. He qualified for the USGA Jr Am in 2019. Also notching numerous top 25s in AJGA open events. He also broke John Dalys high school record by shooting 66 this year in a high school match
Zach Unnerstall
Graduation Year: 2020
High School: Saint Francis Borgia
Zach has yet to commit to a college/University. Zach has been a state qualifier in his three years of high school, receiving all-state honors his sophomore year (12th). He has been all conference and all district every year. He was runner up in the district tournament his junior year and medalist in the Conference and Sectional tournaments. Zach was the runner up in the 2019 Junior Amateur Championship. This will be Zach’s first year participating in the Southern States Cup.
Thomas Henson
Graduation Year:2019
Hermann High School
Thomas plans to attend the University of Central Missouri in the fall of 2019 to play golf and major in business/entrepreneurship. Thomas had a scoring average of 71.0 for his spring season, carding a season low 66. He finished runner up at the Missouri Jr with a two day score of 71-68. He also finished runner up at the UHY AJGA shooting 72-67-73. This will be his first year attending the Southern Cup.
Nicole Rallo
Graduation Year: 2021
High School: St. Joseph’s Academy
During her sophomore year of high school, she placed 6th in the State Championship, assisted her team into their third consecutive State Title and had a high school scoring average of 76.5. She was also awarded First Team St. Louis all metro and selected as St. Louis Athlete of the week sophomore year. The summer accomplishments are as followed:
