2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship

Today was the third and final round of the 2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship. Players have competed in a total of 54 holes of stroke play over the last three days, battling through heavy rain and high temperatures.
The Open divisions teed off first this morning starting at 7:30. Kim Schoenborn (O’Fallon) won Flight 1 of the Mid-Amateur Open with a three-day score of 267 (85-89-93). Pamela Lenhard won Flight 2 with a 308 (101-105-93).
The top of the leaderboard was close throughout the tournament for the Amateur Championship. When the final group’s scorecards were signed, Michelle Butler (Columbia) and Madison DeRousse (Barnhart) were tied for first place with total scores of 220. McKenna Montgomery (Chesterfield) followed closely behind with a 221. Butler and DeRousse went to extra holes, playing Hole 18 until a champion was determined. Both players made par on the first playoff hole, sending them back to the 18th tee. Butler went on to make par, earning her the title of 2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur Champion.
Butler was also named the 2019 Missouri Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion with her score of 220 (73-73-74). Ten-time past champion, Ellen Port finished in second place with a three day total of 224 (78-73-73). Last year’s champion, Kayla Eckelkamp came in third with a total of 234 (85-74-75).
The Low Junior Award for the tournament went to Claire Solovic with her total of 228 (80-77-71).

The second round of the 2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship was played today at Bogey Hills Country Club in St. Charles, Missouri. Scores were much lower today with rain staying out of the area.
Bringing in the tournament’s only under-par score so far, Madison DeRousse (Barnhart) shot a 2- under 69 today to bring her to 1-over for the tournament. Yesterday’s Amateur leader, Michelle Butler (Columbia), carded another 73, bringing her to 4-over after two rounds. McKenna Montgomery (Chesterfield) remains in third place after shooting 74, bringing her two round total to 7-over par.
In the Mid-Amateur Championship, Michelle Butler continues to lead with her combined 4-over total. Ellen Port (St. Louis) shot 73 today as well to trail Butler by 5 strokes. Last year’s Mid-Amateur Champion, Kayla Eckelkamp (Washington) shot 74 today to bring her to tied for third with Christie Blasi (Ozark).
Maria Morrison (Chesterfield) is leading the Amateur Open Division with a combined score of 181. The Mid-Amateur Open Division was split into two flights after today’s round. Leading Flight 1 is Kim Schoenborn (O’Fallon) with a 174 and leading Flight 2 is Judy Tindall (St. Charles) with a 208.
Tomorrow will be the third and final round of the 2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship. Tee times will begin at 7:30. The leaders of the Amateur Championship division will be the final tee time at 11:10.

Today was the first round of competition for the 2019 Missouri Amateur/ Mid-Amateur
Championship at Bogey Hills CC in St. Charles, Missouri. Wet conditions made for a challenging
round of golf. A total of 67 women teed off today in the first of three rounds.
Currently leading the Amateur Championship Division is Michelle Butler (Columbia). Butler
turned in a 73 with 3 birdies, 10 pars, and 5 bogeys. Following closely behind are Madison
Derousse (Barnhart) with a 74 and McKenna Montgomery (Chesterfield) with a 75. Defending
Amateur Champion, Emily Goldstein (Chesterfield), is currently sitting in 4th place with a 5-over
score of 76.
Butler is also leading the Mid-Amateur Championship Division with her 73. Following her are
10-time Champion, Ellen Port (St. Louis), with a 78 and Christie Blasi (Ozark) with a 79.
Leading the Amateur Open Division is Maria Morrison (Chesterfield) with a 90. Kim Schoenborn
(O’Fallon) holds the low score for the Mid-Amateur Open Division with an 85.
Round two of the 2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship will begin
tomorrow morning with tee times beginning at 7:30. Players will compete in another round of
18 holes.

2019 Missouri Women’s Amateur/ Mid-Amateur Championship

The Missouri Golf Association is excited to host the 81st Missouri Women’s Amateur/ 9th Mid- Amateur Championship at Bogey Hills Country Club in St. Charles, Missouri. Once separate tournaments, the two have been combined this year to create the best experience for our players. This will be the first time in either tournaments’ history to be held at Bogey Hills.
This year’s tournament will be a 54-hole stroke play competition, with participants playing 18 holes each day. Golfers will play practice rounds on Sunday, July 14th, with official play beginning Monday morning and continuing until Wednesday. A total of 67 players will make up this year’s field.
The tournament will be made up of four divisions: Amateur Championship, Amateur Open, Mid-Amateur Championship, and Mid-Amateur Open. The Amateur divisions are open to all players and the Mid-Amateur divisions are open to those who are 25 years or older. Those who are eligible for both divisions are allowed to compete in both. Players with handicaps of 7.9 or lower must compete in the Championship Divisions of the Amateur and Mid-Amateur. The three-day low gross score will determine the Amateur Champion and Mid-Amateur Champion.
There will be a few past champions returning to this year’s tournament. Last year’s Amateur Champion, Emily Goldstein (Chesterfield), will be returning to defend her title. Goldstein also won the championship in 2016. Another past Amateur Champion who will be returning is 10-time Champion, Ellen Port (St. Louis). Last year’s Mid-Amateur champion, Kayla Eckelkamp (Washington), will also be returning to defend her title. Eckelkamp won the Mid-Amateur in 2016 as well.
The tournament will feature a wide range of players, with a 70-year age difference between the youngest and oldest players. Emree Cameron (Nevada) will be the youngest competitor at just 12 years old. Julia McEwen will be the oldest at the age of 82.
