2017 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship
The final day of the 2017 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship was today at the Jefferson City Country Club and Oak Hills Golf Center. Similar to round one, the 8-13 age divisions played at Oak Hills and the 14-18 age groups at JCCC. Players had to face yet another day of high temperatures, but overall, scores were lower today. The morning waves at both courses began at 7:45 and the afternoon wave at the JCCC began at 12:25.
At Oak Hills, the boys and girls fought hard for the Junior Amateur title. In the male 9-hole division, Noah Rinehart took first place after shooting a total score of 80 (42-38). Rinehart carded two birdies, seven pars, six bogeys and three double bogeys for the week. After a chip off, Jacob Heller took second place followed by Dawson Schnieders in third. The second place duo had to chip off a second time after tying again during the first chip off. In the male 10-11 division, Archer Schnieders took the title with his impressive 69 (two under par) yesterday and an 80 today to bring him to a total of 149. Jonathan Jordan finished in second and Chayton Jordan in third. Logan Cox was this week’s winner in the male 12-13 division with his impressive total of 147 (73-74). He tallied a total of one eagle, five birdies, 19 pars, 10 bogeys and one double bogey. Graham Johnson followed close in second and Charlie Hinds in third.
Madison Moller took the female 10-13 division after carding a 77 yesterday and a 79 today (156). With her eagle, three birdies, 15 pars, 15 bogeys and two double bogeys, she claimed the championship title in her division. Audrey Rischer took the runner up place and Kyleigh Pfitzner followed in third.
At the Jefferson City Country Club, the junior golfers competed in another long day of competition. In the male 14-15 division, Peter Weaver took first with an impressive 145 (69-76). August Hoffman and Dawson Meek tied for second place. Jack Cronin had an amazing day after carding 74 (two over par) and recording a hole-in-one on number three with his 6-iron. Today’s yardage was 184. In the male 16-18 division, there was a sudden death playoff between Kevin Wahle and Taylor Haltom. Wahle made his par putt on the first hole to earn the first place and the overall title in the male Junior Amateur division.
Regan Zibilski won the female 14-15 division with her total of 156 (76-80). She finished both days with a completed two birdies, 10 pars and eight bogeys. There was a five-way tie for second place at 165 among Nicole Rallo, Taryn Overstreet, Parker Perry, Kayla Pfitzner and Wriley Hiebert.
Sarah Bell won the female 16-18 division and is the 2017 overall female Junior Amateur Champion. She was the only female to card below par with a total of 141 (70-71). Julie Bower finished in second for the 16-18 division and Emma Solovic in third.

2017 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship
The 2017 Missouri Junior Tour Championship kicked off today in Jefferson City at both the Jefferson City Country Club and Oak Hills Golf Center. The Missouri Golf Association had 137 juniors play in the event. The 8-13 age division competed at Oak Hills while the 14-18-year-olds played at the JCCC. The day consisted of a morning wave at both courses, beginning at 7:45, and an afternoon wave at JCCC starting at 12:15. The junior golfers faced the heat today with temperatures in the 90s.
In the male 8-9 division, the top three leaders include Noah Rinehart, Jacob Heller and Dawson Schnieders, and in the male 12-13 division, Logan Cox (Hallsville) holds the first place ranking with a 73 (two over par). Cox finished with an eagle, a birdie, 11 pars and five bogeys. In the male 10-11 division, Archer Schnieders (Jefferson City), had a fantastic day with an impressive 69 (two under par). He carded a total of five birdies, 10 pars and three bogeys for the day. Jonathan Jordan (Rolla) holds the second place ranking in the division with a 74 (three over par).
The ladies at Oak Hills were grouped together in the 10-13 division, in which Madison Moller (Columbia) tallied a 77 to place her in first after day one. Lyla Louderbaugh (Buffalo) follows in second and Audrey Rischer (Columbia) in third.
At JCCC in the female 14-15 division, Reagan Zibilski (Nixa) shot a 76 (four over par) to place her in first, followed by Wriley Hiebert (Springfield) in second and Kylah Gore (Mexico) in third. Sarah Bell (Jackson) shot a low score of 70 (two under par) to hold the first place ranking in the female 16-18 division. Following Sarah, Julia Bower (Columbia) holds second and Sarah Lewis (Chesterfield) holds third.
In the male 14-15 division, Peter Weaver (St. Louis) shot a 69 (three under par) and leads the division followed by Dawson Meek (Ozark) and Justin Wingerter (Olathe). The final division of the day was the male 16-18 group. There is tie for the first place ranking between Kevin Wahle (Wildwood) and Brooks Jungbluth (St. Joseph) who both shot a 70 (2 under). There is another tie for third between Jeff Norman (Rolla) and Jonathan Bell (Jackson) with a 71 (one under par).

Missouri Junior Amateur Championship

The Missouri Golf Association will host the 34th Annual Missouri Junior Amateur Championship in Jefferson City from July 17-18. The championship will take place at three different courses based on select age groups. The 5-9 division will be playing at the Ken Lanning Golf Center, the 10-13 age group will play at Oak Hills Golf Course and the 16-18 division will play at the Jefferson City Country Club. The deadline to enter is July 1.
A practice round will be held in the afternoon on Sunday, July 16th for all age divisions. The practice round will take place at each individual golf course for the specified age groups. The first round of 18 holes will be played on Monday, July 17th followed by a cookout at the Ken Lanning Golf Center. Everyone is welcome to join the event! The second round of 18 holes will be played on Tuesday, July 18th. An awards ceremony will follow the second round.
At the 2016 Missouri Junior Amateur Championship, Taryn Overstreet, a Jackson native, took the title in the female 14-15 division, and Allison Bray, from Cape Girardeau, claimed the female 16-18 group.
In the male category, Dawson Meek, from Ozark, and Ross Steelman, from Columbia, tied for first in the 14-16 division. In the 16-18 age group, Bennett Tiefenbrunn, from Sullivan, and Christopher Obert, from Ozark, tied for first with a 70 (2 under).
