MUSCLE SHOALS, Al. (July 23, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association is proud to announce that twelve of the state’s top junior golfers have been selected to represent Missouri in the Southern Junior Cup Matches. This Ryder Cup-style match play event features teams of junior golfers from Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas competing against each other.

This year, Alabama will host the event at the prestigious Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, from July 31 to August 1. The tournament format includes a four-ball match for the first round, an alternate shot match play for the afternoon round, and singles match play for the third round. In four-ball and alternate shot matches, teams will consist of one male and one female player. Individual matches will be played male against male and female against female.

Missouri’s team includes six girls and six boys selected based on point standings and captains’ picks. Let’s meet them!

Audrey Duvall (Springfield) attends Glendale High School and will graduate in 2025. Audrey competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and Junior Amateur Championship, placing 12th in the Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 13-over, 157 (84, 73), and advanced to the round of 16 in the Junior Match Play Championship.

KC Lenox (St. Peters) attends St. Joseph’s Academy and will graduate in 2025. KC was a Semifinalist at the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and competed on the 2024 Junior Girls’ Four State Team. She also competed in the 2023 Southern Junior Cup Matches. 

Hanna Maschhoff (Lake Ozark) recently graduated from School of the Osage and will attend Mississippi State University in the fall. Hanna competed in the 2023 Southern Junior Cup matches for Team Missouri, placed second in the 2024 MGA Girls’ Spring Kickoff, and was the runner-up in the 2023 Junior Amateur Championship.

Avery McLaughlin (Town & Country) attends Visitation Academy and will graduate in 2025. She is committed to playing golf at Richmond University in Richmond, Virginia after graduation. Avery tied for Runner-Up at the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 4-over, 148 (71, 77). She also competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and reached the quarterfinal round. Earlier this summer, she played on the 2024 Junior Girls’ Four State team.

Reece Nimmo (Warrensburg) recently graduated from Warrensburg High School. Reece will play golf for the University of Central Missouri in the fall. She tied for seventh place at the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 7-over, 151 (75, 76).

Kate Ryan (Columbia) attends Tolton High School and will graduate in 2025. She is committed to playing golf at Coastal Carolina University after graduation. Kate competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship, advancing to the round of 32, and placed second in the 2024 MGA Girls’ Shootout. She also competed on the 2024 Junior Girls’ Four State Team. 

Ben Christian (Dexter) attends Dexter High School and will graduate in 2025. Ben was the Runner-Up at the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 8-under, 136 (69, 67). He also competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and the Missouri Amateur Championship.

Ian Lambert (Jackson) attends Jackson High School and will graduate in 2025. Ian won the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 9-under, 135 (66, 69). He also won the Missouri Amateur Qualifying event at Dalhousie Golf Club with a score of 1-under, 71. Additionally, Lambert competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and the 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship. 

Garrett McIntosh (Columbia) attends Father Tolton High School and will graduate in 2025. Garrett competed in the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship and Junior Match Play Championship.

Anson Munzlinger (Columbia) will graduate high school in 2028. Anson tied for seventh place in the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 5-under, 139 (71, 68). He was also the Stroke Play Medalist at the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship. He competed in the 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship, advancing to the round of 32, and was on the 2023 Southern Junior Cup team.

Ethan Mustard (Lebanon) attends Lebanon High School and will graduate in 2025. Ethan was the Runner-Up at the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship and tied for 14th in the 2024 Junior Amateur Championship with a total gross score of 2-under, 142 (70, 72).

Quinn Thomas (Hannibal) recently graduated from Hannibal High School. Quinn competed in the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship, Junior Amateur Championship, and Missouri Amateur Championship. He was on the 2023 Southern Junior Cup team and won the Missouri Amateur Qualifying event at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri. 

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club.
