FORT SMITH, Ar. (July 26, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association is excited to announce its team for the upcoming Women’s Fore State Championship, set to take place on July 29 and 30 at the historic Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Established in 1995, the Fore State Team Championship promotes friendly rivalry among amateur women golfers from Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, with each state hosting the event in rotation.
This year’s competition features a stellar lineup of Missouri’s top women golfers, representing three divisions: Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Masters. The selected team members earned their spots through the MGA Women’s Point List and strong performances in MGA Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Amateur championships.
Amateur Division:

Each Fore State Team is composed of four players from each division: Amateur (age 39 or less), Mid-Amateur (age 40-59), and Masters (age 60+). Captains have the discretion to move players down in age categories but cannot move them up.
The competition promises to be a memorable event at Hardscrabble Country Club, a course with a rich history and challenging layout. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell in 1926 on the former site of Hardscrabble Farm, the course underwent a significant renovation in 1998 by Jay and Carter Morrish, enhancing its features for modern play while preserving its traditional charm.

ABOUT MGA: The Missouri Golf Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf throughout the State of Missouri.
The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and Executive Director. Ever since then, the MGA has striven to provide tournaments and spaces for Missouri golfers to sharpen their skills and enjoy the game.
