SMITHVILLE, Mo. (June 3, 2024) – The Missouri Amateur Qualifier at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville took place today. Competitors played the 18-hole Outlaw Course for the chance to earn a spot in the 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship.
Kyle Kasitz (Wichita) delivered a dominating performance, earning the top qualifying spot of the day with a score of 7-under, 65.
Carl Miltun (Rolla) followed behind in second place after shooting 5-under, 67. Easton Johnson (Kansas City) rounded out the top three with a score of 4-under, 68.
The top 23 players, along with two alternates, qualified for the Missouri Amateur Championship, which will take place at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph from June 25-30.
The cut to qualify was 1-over-par, 73. Five players competed for the final three slots, with Parker Bunting (Lincoln), Brad Welch (Leawood) and Sam Schoeberl (St. Joseph) clinching the spots.
Caleb Carter (St. Joseph) and RJ Opliger (Basehor) are the two alternates.

The Missouri Golf Association was started in St. Louis in 1905 to run the Amateur Championship. Four founding clubs would be the ones in existence in St. Louis in those early years – St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin Golf Club, Glen Echo Golf Club and Normandie Golf Club. Four years later, the invite-only Missouri Amateur was held in Kansas City at Evanston Club. 1911 marked the real organization of the MGA with Bonner Miller as Secretary and virtual Executive Director.
