Final Recap

EUREKA, Mo. (May 29, 2024) – The final round of the 30th annual Senior Four Ball Championship ended today at The Legends Country Club in Eureka. The tournament hosted 62 teams divided into five flights, the Championship flight being the most competitive.

Out of 38 teams in the Championship division, Skip Berkmeyer (Town and Country) & Brian Martin (Eureka) ended with the top spot after two strong rounds for a gross score of 11-under, 133 (65, 68). The winning duo saw 13 birdies over the two rounds. 

Two teams tied for second place, both rounding out the top three with a gross score of 8-under, 136: Kirk Viehl (Edwardsville) & Gary Pohl (St. Louis) (69, 67) and Wayne Fredrick (Springfield) & Brian Lovett (St. Louis) (69, 67). The two teams jumped ahead of previous second-place holders Kris Casburn (Greenwood) & Stephen Bode (St. Louis), who ended the day tied for fourth with Paul Neeman (St. Louis) & David Bremer (St. Louis). Both teams finished with gross scores of 7-under, 137. 

Mark Addington (Overland Park) & Steve Groom (Raytown) maintained their round one lead and won the Championship 65+ Division with a score of 6-under, 138 (67, 71). Robert Trittler (Wentzville) & Bob Meeh (Eureka) kept their second place spot after shooting 2-under for the day, for a gross score of 5-under, 139 (69, 70). Rick Barks (St. Peters) & Barry Yehling (St. Louis) had a great second round today to move up into third place, with a final score of 2-under, 142 (72, 70). 

The following three net divisions have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

In the 50-59 Net Division, Dan Campbell (Jefferson City) & Darren Patterson (Jefferson City) stayed strong and took the top spot with a gross score of 7-under, 137 (69, 68). Two teams tied for second place with a gross score of 1-under, 143: Jerry Maguire (Raymore) & Greg Hansen (Raymore) (73, 70) and Sam Verslues (Jefferson City) & Matt Clement (Jefferson City) (69, 74). 

Mike Haymart (Jefferson City) & Gary Marshall (Jefferson City) had an amazing second round and were able to secure the win today in the 60-69 Net Division with a gross score of 9-under, 135 (71, 64). The team of Reid Simonett (Lees Summit) & Marty Edmonds (Raymore) played a great round yesterday and finished in second at 8-under, 136 (67, 69), and Dan Luebbert (Holts Summit) & Kurt Mueller (Jefferson City) mirrored their day one score to take home third place at 4-under, 140 (70, 70).

Finally, the final standings in the 70+ Net Division mirrored round one, with Bruce Robert (St. Louis) & Wally Obremski (Defiance) finishing in first with a gross score of 9-under, 135 (67, 68), Frank Jacobs (Joplin) & Michael Dallmeyer (Jefferson City) in second place at 2-under, 142 (68, 74), and Duane Schreimann (Jefferson City) & Bert Kimble (Jefferson City) coming in third place at 2-over, 146 (72, 74).

Day 1 Recap

EUREKA, Mo. (May 28, 2024) – The Missouri Golf Association’s 30th annual Senior Four Ball Championship saw its first round today at The Legends Country Club in Eureka. A total of 124 players split into 62 teams competed in today’s round of best ball.

Divided into five different flights, the players hit the links starting with 7:30 a.m. tee times. 

Skip Berkmeyer (Town and Country) & Brian Martin (Eureka) are leading the Championship Division with a score of 7-under, 65. Not far behind, Kris Casburn (Greenwood) & Stephen Bode (St. Louis) sit in second place at 6-under, 66. Tom Portner (Mt. Vernon) & Barry Craig (Pinckneyville) shot 4-under, 68 to take third for the day. 

In the Championship Super Senior Division, which is comprised of players 65 or older, Steve Groom (Raytown) & Mark Addington (Overland Park) are leading the pack at 5-under, 67. Robert Trittler (Wentzville) & Bob Meeh (Eureka) are in second place with a score of 3-under, 69. Dennis Osborne (Ballwin) & Dennis Payne (Creve Coeur) are in third after shooting 1-under, 71 on the day.

Three net divisions have handicap strokes deducted from final scores.

In the 50-59 Net Division, the teams of Dan Campbell (Jefferson City) & Darren Patterson (Jefferson City) and Sam Verslues (Jefferson City) & Matt Clement (Jefferson City) are tied for first at 3-under, 69. Right behind them is Jerry Maguire (Raymore) & Greg Hansen (Raymore) with a score of 1-over, 73. 

Reid Simonett (Lees Summit) & Marty Edmonds (Raymore) have the lead in the 60-69 Net Division with a score of 5-under, 67. Marc Kiser (Ozark) & Tim Blasi (Ozark) are following in second at 3-under, 69, and Dan Luebbert (Holts Summit) & Kurt Mueller (Jefferson City) are in third with a score of 2-under, 70.

Finally, Bruce Robert (St. Louis) & Wally Obremski (Defiance) are leading the 70+ Net Division at 5-under, 67, followed by Frank Jacobs (Joplin) & Michael Dallmeyer (Jefferson City) in second at 4-under, 68. Bert Kimble (Jefferson City) & Duane Schreimann (Jefferson City) are rounding off the top three at even par, 72.

Play will continue tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. By the end of the day, the MGA will award the winners of each flight. 

The Senior Four Ball Championship is a point event that will contribute to qualification for the Hieronymus Cup Matches at Greenbriar Hills Coutry Club in Kirkwood from October 26-27.
