JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Dec. 1, 2023) – The 40th annual Junior Amateur Championship will expand from 36 to 54 holes in the 2024 season. Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Missouri will host the event from July 8-10, 2024.
The Junior Amateur, which is open to Missouri junior golfers 14 or older, has consisted of two 18 hole rounds in past years. In the 2024 season, there will be three rounds of play with a cut to narrow down the field before the final championship round.
“We are thrilled to expand our Junior Amateur competition to a three-day championship,” MGA Junior Golf Director Reese Hamilton said. “In addition to increasing competition, extending the event could pave the way for future USGA exemptions!”
A practice round will take place on July 7. The MGA will hold the first qualifying round on July 8, with a second qualifying round to follow on July 9. After the qualifying rounds, the field will be cut for the championship round. The final championship round will take place on July 10, and the MGA will crown the newest Missouri Junior Amateur Champions after play has concluded.
This is the first time Crown Pointe Golf Club is hosting the Junior Amateur.
The Junior Amateur Championship will be open to all MGA members between the ages of 14 and 18. Members can register for this event starting on March 5, 2024.
