SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Missouri Golf Association’s 23rd annual Junior Match Play Championship is set to take place June 12-15 at Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield.

The tournament is open to males and females between the ages of 14 and 18 who play at clubs or courses that are members of the Missouri Golf Association. This tournament is scored as a point event, and points will go toward the players’ end-of-the-year standings.

A practice round will be held on Sunday, June 11. The first round of stroke play will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday with tee times running through 12:45 p.m. All golfers will begin on the first hole. Round two will follow on Tuesday and hold the same format as the first.

The 16 males and females with the lowest scores will advance to the first round of match play on Wednesday morning. The low eight males and females will play another round of match play Wednesday evening, and the four lowest scores from that round will advance to the semifinals on Thursday morning. The two low scores will compete in the final round of match play Thursday evening.

Last year’s Junior Match Play champions were Andrew Conrad (Smithville) and Tierney Baumstark (Columbia). Baumstark will return to this year’s championship with a chance to defend her title.
