SUNRISE BEACH — Play was suspended due to weather halfway through the Round of 16 at the 114th Missouri Amateur Championship Friday.

In the Round of 32, which started three hours late due to a morning weather delay, a number of higher seeds fell in upsets. No. 1 seed Thomas Henson (Hermann) almost joined the group, taking his match against No. 33 seed Sam Migdal (St. Louis) in 20 holes.

Henson, who plays collegiately for Central Missouri, rallied on the second hole of the playoff, punching out of the trees and hitting an approach to within 10 feet. He then capitalized on Migdal’s missed putt to win the hole and the match.

At the time play was suspended, only three matches in the Round of 16 were completed. No. 24 seed Alex Locke (Springfield), who plays collegiately for Missouri State, and No. 12 seed Logan Smith (La Plata), who plays collegiately at William Woods, both won their matches 5 & 4. No. 15 seed Adam Pfeiffer also won his match 3 & 2.

The remainder of the Round of 16 will resume at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches will follow the completion of the previous round.
