2017 4-State Results

49th JUNIOR GIRLS’ 4-STATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

June 28 & 29, 2017 – Wichita CC

The Four-State Junior Girls Championship began in 1969, as a one-day stroke play tournament. Today it is a 36-hole stroke play tournament. The Four State Junior Girls Championship is composed of a golf team from Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. The method of choosing teams is strictly up to the individual states as tournaments vary.  The five best girls should represent their state.  Each team consists of five girls, one alternate and coach or coaches from each state.  The four low scores of each team are added each day and totaled after the second day to determine the winner.  The medalist is determined by the low two day total score.

Kansas is the host this year so the teams will travel to Wichita Country Club to compete on June 28-29.

The Missouri Golf Association is proud to announce our 2017 Four-State Girls team members. They are Samantha Cornelius, Hamilton, Kate Keuss, St Louis, Lyla Louderbaugh, Buffalo, Jennah Schell, Osage Beach and Amber Wilson, Linn Creek. Coaches are Katrina Clark, MGA Director and Annette Clark. The Association covers the expenses for all team members and our coaches to attend this very prestigious event. Thank you all for accepting the invitation to represent Missouri and especially for our team coaches for taking time to assist with this event.  We couldn’t do it without your support!

My name is Samantha Cornelius from Hamilton, Missouri. I attend Penney High School. In 2016 Junior Match Play Low round medalist and runner up and 2016 MGA junior player of the year. Recently, I tied for medalist in stroke play in the MGA Junior Match Play and lost 4 & 2 in the quarterfinal. As a member of the golf team at Penney I was 2016 Class 1 District Champion, 2016 Sectionals runner up and 2016 All State 10th place. Most recently I was recognized as the 2017 Midwest Junior Player of the year.

My name is Kate Keuss and I recently graduated from Cor Jesu Academy in Saint Louis. Next year, I’ll be attending Regis University and playing on their women’s golf team. During my high school career, I made the all-state team twice; placing 7th my junior year and 14th my senior year. Some of my other accomplishments include District champion, Missouri-Illinois River Challenge champion, All-Metro first team, named team MVP all four years, and 2017 MGA junior match play champion. I feel honored and blessed that I was invited to play in this special event.

My name is Jennah Schell and I am from Osage Beach, Missouri. I attend Camdenton High School where I will be a senior this upcoming school year. I started golfing when I was seven years old. My first golf tournament was with L.O.J.G.A. when I was nine years old. During my sophomore year, the Camdenton Lady Laker Golf team, became District Champions for the first time in school history. My final score contributed to us winning. We made school history again when we went to State as a team. This also was because of how well I played at Sectionals. My junior year I qualified as an individual to go to State. I recently played in the 2017 Junior Match Play Championship where I was a semifinalist. I feel very honored to have been invited to play in the Junior Four State Tournament.

My name is Amber Wilson. I will be a senior this fall at camdenton high school. I have been playing golf since I was two. I have played in the Callaway junior worlds in San Diego, as well as the Pepsi Little People’s where I placed second. I am a two time individual district champion, conference champion, and two time class 2 all-state golfer. I have been honored to play for Missouri in the four state southern cup team for two years and am honored to represent team Missouri this week.

My name is Lyla Louderbaugh from Buffalo, MO. I’m 11 years old and will be going into the 7th grade at Buffalo Prairie Middle School in the fall. My biggest golf accomplishment is being a Drive, Chip and Putt 2017 Finalist. I played at Augusta National before the Masters this April. In addition, I’ve won the 2016 US Kids Midwest State Championship and the 2016 Show Me Games. I hold many titles in the Southwest Missouri Junior Golf, LOGJA/MGA and US Kids tours. I love to play golf and began playing at the age of 5. I’m honored that I was selected to represent Missouri at the Junior Four State Tournament!
