Most of you will remember Julia Potter, 2008 USGA Boatwright Intern and former outstanding member of the Mizzou golf team.

She has just won the 2013 U.S. Women’s Mid Amateur at Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, NC. in 19 holes over Margaret Shirley, 27 of Roswell, GA

Julia Potter, 25, Granger, Ind.

  • Born Oct. 20, 1987 in Atlanta, Ga.
  • Competing in her second USGA championship and first U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
  • Winner of the 2005 and 2006 Indiana Girls State Junior Championship
  • Winner of the 2008 and 2009 IWGA Women’s Amateur Championship
  • Winner of the 2009 IWGA Match Play Championship
  • 2008 and 2009 IWGA Player of the Year
  • A 2011 graduate of the University of Missouri, where she won five tournaments and holds all but two individual records
  • Named to the 2008, 2009 and 2010 All Big 12 First Team
  • An event coordinator for Anthony Travel in Dallas
  • A former USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern with the Missouri Golf Association
  • Underwent back surgery at age 16 due to scoliosis

Julia is the second youngest winner and was the first medalist to go on to win the US Women’s Mid Amateur since Ellen Port, St Louis in 2000. (Port is the 2013 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Champion and the 2014 Curtis Cup Captain)
