Round 2

Second and final round of the 2013 Junior Amateur Championship at Paradise Point Golf Complex finished on Tuesday, July 9th. Clouds covered the morning skies but the hot weather made its way and the temperature was 95 degrees when the final girls groups made their way to the scoring table and the final boys group teed off.

Taylor Black, of Warrensburg, MO fired a score of 79, for a 71-79 two day total of 150 and won first place in the 16-18 Girls Division, as well as; the overall champion of the 14-18 Girls Divisions. Logan Otter, of St. Peters, MO rebounded back from a day one score 82 to shoot 2 under 70 to win second place with a two day total of 155. Leawood, KS golfer Jean Tyrell took third place posting 74-81, for a two day total of 155.

In the 14-15 Girls Division, Mia Tovkach, of Kansas City, Missouri won by shooting a 79 after posting 95 on day one, for a two day total of 174. Sophie Sadaro, of Raymore, Missouri took second place after posting scores 91-88—179 and Jessica Parker, of Fairway, Kansas took third place posting scores 88-95—183.

Allison Bray, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri shot a 77-82—159 to win the 12-13 Girls Division. Amber Wilson, of Linn Creek, Missouri took second with the scores of 76-86—162 and O’Fallon golfer, Shannon Gould took third with the scores 88-80—168.

Ross Steelman, of Columbia, Missouri shot another under par round for day two. After shooting 2 under 70 for round one, he followed up with a 1 under 71, for a two day total of 141 and the champion of the 12-13 Boys Division. Jaden Hightower, of Jackson, Missouri improved by 6 strokes and took second place with the scores of 81-75—156. Ryan Richards of Stillwell, Kansas took third after shooting 77, a 7 stroke improvement from day one for a two day total of 161.

In the 14-15 Boys Division, Jack Litzelfelner III from Jackson, Missouri won the title. After shooting 1 under par in round one, he followed with a 2 under round 70 for a two day total of 141. Michael O’Keefe II from St. Louis, Missouri took second place shooting a pair of 74’s for a two day total of 148. Hartsburg, Missouri golfer, Walker Keterson came in third place with shooting 74-75, for a two day total of 149.

Chase Hanna, of Leawood, Kansas and future golfer for the University of Kansas won the overall champion title, as well as, 16-18 Boys Division posting the scores 69-68 for a two day total of 7 under par 137. Zac Dittmer, of Kansas City, Missouri took second place in the 16-18 Boys Division posting the scores 69-72 for a two day total 141. Licking, Missouri golfer Ian Barnes shaved off 5 strokes from his first round score to win third place with the scores 74-69, for a two day total of 143.

The next Junior Championship event is Ken Lanning Championship July 17th – 18th at Oak Meadow Country Club in Rolla, Missouri. The deadline for this event is July 12th.

Round 1

The 2013 Junior Amateur Championship at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville began on Monday,  July 8th.  The boys divisions played the Posse Course and the girls divisions played the Outlaw Course.

On the girls side, Taylor Black, of Warrensburg, took the first day lead in the 16-18 girls division by shooting a one under par 71.  Jean Tyrrell, of Leawood, KS, is close behind in second with a 74 and Mason Fender, from Lake Winnebago, shot 77 to take 3rd place after the first round.

For the 14-15 girls division, Jessica Parker, from Fairway, KS, is in first with an 88.  Sophia Sadaro, of Raymore, is in second place after shooting a 91 and Kylie Carnes, from Carl Junction, and Anna Ciani, of Leawood, KS, are tied for third with 94’s.

Amber Wilson, of Linn Creek, is in first place in the 12-13 girls division with a four over par 76.  Allison Bray, of Cape Girardeau, is close behind with a 77 for second place and Samantha Cornelius, of Hamilton, is third with 87.

On the boy’s side in the 16-18 division, Chase Hanna from Leawood, KS and Zac Dittmer from Kansas City, MO, are in a tie for 1st after posting a score of 3 under par 69. Columbia golfer Matt Echelmeier and Kearney golfer Adam Lechner recorded the next best score, 2 under par 70.  Brad Carpenter, Miles Aduddell, and John Sallaz also all recorded under par rounds with the score of 71.

In the 14-15 boys division, Jack Litzelfelner III from Jackson, MO posted a score 71 and has a 3 shot lead over Walker Kesterson, Jake Goldman, and Micheal O’Keefe II all posting 74.

Ross Steelman, of Columbia, MO is in first place in the 12-13 boys division with a two under par 70. Jaden Hightower from Jackson, MO is in second place after shooting an 81 and Luke Manary, of Columbia, is only one shot back with a score of 82.

There will be 18 holes played on Tuesday, July 9th to determine the winners in each division.  Awards will be given for each age group for boys and girls: 12-13, 14-15, 16-18.  The 14-15 and 16-18 will also compete together for the overall championship.
